| | | Re: Toothed fish This species is a south and west coast species and is still present in winter although in smaller numbers it tends to go to more sheltered waters when the temperature drops. Populations peak at late summer/autumn in the UK. |

Actually lots of native British fish have teeth of varying size. Geoff, the Trigger fish as far as I know was once only to be found on the south west coast around Dorset. Usually on inshore wrecks. Having not been involved in shore fishing for some time, have things changed with these fish? Wizzo |
Cheers mate. You would have thought i would have known better , i've caught Wrasse a plenty off St Davids Head. Many have been fair sized fish, though non to the size of the one in the photo |

| | | Re: Toothed fish Naturenutz, I mostly fished pots for crab but also did a bit of netting for ray or bass etc, and some time ago I also did the occasional bit of light inshore trawling. I have been looking for a photo of my crewhand holding a freshly caught trigger, before returning it to the water, but so far I can't locate the image.
I haven't found any dead ones but it is quite likely that they could struggle to survive in colder northern waters. Even here in the far south, early fish were always a bit sluggish. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
