Lonesome George
I'm sorry I can't find the bit of thread where I mentioned Lonesome George before. I have just looked him up on the net and I was right. He was taken to a place of safety on Santa Cruz in 1972, but his wives did not manage to wriggle through the red tape to get to him until 1993! Someone on the program I was watching said it could be too late. He might be infertile. Why didn't they put the females with him from the start?
Actually when I googled him they said they are imminently awaiting news on another batch of eggs. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for him!
I hope no one is keeping any other critically endengered animals in isolation
