| | | Is there a monster in Lochness? Forgive me if this has been covered before but....do any members have any expeirience, or better still any photo's, of strange creatures in Lochness (or any other lake for that matter). I'm pretty much on the fence on this one with possibly one leg dangling further towards pro-creature. I'm not overly keen on the monster word myself. Now I know that this thread has the potential to degenerate into comical chaos - but it would be nice to have the occasional serious response. (take note Posie & Loripo!) Wizzo

| | | Re: Is there a monster in Lochness? The Scots have a nack of promoting otherwise dull areas by fabricating stories around them. Loch Ness is one of the dullest of the Scottish lochs hence the story

| | | Re: Is there a monster in Lochness? I think the main problem with it is that its a 'dead lake' ie there are very few fish in it. Someone did the maths and it would struggle to support one large predator, let alone a population of them, sadly. I would be great if there was some kind of giant aquatic reptile/amphibian/fish/whale/seal in the Loch but it seems to be scientifically impossible |

This 75ft. long x 2ft. tall creature is thought to return to its place of birth to lay 12" long eggs. Could it be that Loch Ness is that place, and that the Caledonean Canal provides the ideal access route from the sea? (And if you fell for that suspension of disbelief, I can also tell you how to find faeries at the bottom of your garden. ).
Regards,
Mike. |

Scottish Wild Cat, Pine Marten, Otter, Red Deer, Red Squirrel, etc. have all made it on to my "mammal trip lists" but never a monster .... other than all those strange sightings after a little too much malt whiskey
Ooops, sorry I degenerated wizzo .... and that is probably also a description of me after that malt whiskey
Loch Ness is very, very deep and very, very long .... a lot of water for a monster to hide in but you would have thought in our age of science, technology, radar, echo location, etc. that something would have been found by now if it was down there.
