| | | What have you learnt from the snow, wildlife-wise? Have you discovered tracks from an animal you never knew was there? Have you had strange birds visiting your garden? Has the snow shown up anything new?
I've had, for the first time ever, a fieldfare on the lawn. I've also learnt that the squirrel who comes every morning wees at the bottom of the bird feeder before hopping up for his breakfast! |

| | | Re: What have you learnt from the snow, wildlife-wise? Ive learnt that we have mink in a local lake (which explains alot). Not many birds in the garden though although I had a snipe not far from my house (a suburban area). |

Bad news about the mink, Dogghound. I hope you can take some action. |

| | | Re: What have you learnt from the snow, wildlife-wise? I have found that Blackcaps can be real, little bullies at the bird feeders - chasing away all the Chaffinches, Goldfinches, Blue Tits, Robins, Dunnocks etc ... but Green Finches rule the feeders and even chase off the Blackcap Once Green Finches arrive the other birds come back to the feeders and it gets a much friendlier atmosphere |
