| | | Re: Black rabbits The book, by Richard Adams, is rather better than the film. (And not just because it hasn't got that song in it!)
I read it for the first time when I was about ten or eleven, and was fascinated by all the detail of the rabbits' behaviour. I remember being quite freaked out by the lengthy description of the gassing of the rabbit warren, though. |

| | | Re: Black rabbits Black rabbits are quite common round here (Nottingham) and I see what I assume to be the same ones when I walk my dogs. Having just pulled up for a walk round the Staunton Harold/Calke Park area of South Derbyshire I saw a baby black bunny nibbling some grass. I also used to see one each morning on my way to work. One morning it was squashed in the road and I did actually shed a tear as this was the first one i'd ever seen. |

| | | Re: Black rabbits Quite a few black rabbits up here as well, especially round the Eoropaidh area. Crafty buggers they are up there, when they see you coming, they don't dive into a burrow, oh no, they dive into the nearest group of sheep and sit there going 'ner ner ner ner ner'!
There's enough rabbits (and barely any Myxomatosis) on the island to feed every rabbit three meals a day for a year and not put a dent in the population. But the island folks won't eat them, allegedly because the rabbits feed on the grass in the cemetaries. |

| | | Re: Black rabbits I'm glad you asked about black rabbits. I have seen quite a few since around moving to Dorset but have never seen them before and was wondering what the story was!
