I Would quite like BirdGuides to come to Android sometime soon. The only half decent app is Birds UK and that doesn't include many species. I Like the idea though and will keep my eye out for something

A lot of the field guide apps for mobile phones are simply scrapes off of the internet, from sites like Wikipedia. These 'reference' apps are very limited unless you happen to have an exceedingly good and species specific understanding already (which sort of defeats the point of owning the app!).

The content on the Isoperla range of apps are written by professional ecologists, and respected authors, and have a range of high quality copyright images to assist proper identification for each species. They all have an exceptionally easy key for identification purposes, but there are now some seriously cool features on the more recent versions. For example, they have a 'compare' option for difficult similar species, geomapped sightings that can be filtered for different user groups to see, and a quiz game so that you can polish up your instant ID skills. I'm told that they will all be multi-platform by the end the year.
