| | | Wildlife goals for 2010? Ok what are everyones wildlife goals for 2010?
My main goal is to photograph Birds of prey in the wild, i have no pics whatsoever and am determined to finish 2010 with some good shots
I have a few smaller projects,i still have 3 Dragonflies missing from my New Forest collection so will be looking out for them this summer.
Lets see in 12 months who's achieved thier goals. |

My only other wish is that whatever or whoever I happen across I have a smile on my face and all is well with the world!
Happy new year all.

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2010? A nice upbeat post there, Vince!
I have to say I have seen the most garden birds (including Bullfinches) during snowy weather. I have been told it's because;
a) the birds are hungrier and therefore will visit gardens (with food provided) more often -
and
b) that they all show up better against a snowy background (in much the same way that a Robin has a red breast all year round, but is more noticeable during the winter months, therefore some folk believe they are a "winter" bird.)
May you see all you wish for!
Happy 2010
D.

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2010? Yep, great idea for a topic Keith. My aim is just to get out in the field more and stop using silly excuses for not doing so. Work for example..... . I think that setting targets or projects is good for focusing the mind, so like Keith, I'm heading for Clifton Gorge come spring to see if I can't take that elusive shot of a Perigrin catching lunch! Well, if you don't have dreams......... Wizzo

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2010? There are loads of things I want to see that living where I do, I really should have seen by now.
Twinflower, Pine Marten and Ptarmigan are three that spring to mind that really shouldn't be too difficult. Mountain Ringlet and Dingy Skipper may be a bit trickier, but are two species I'd love to see.
It would be nice to be able to look back at the end of 2010 and be able to say I've seen them.
Happy New Year to everyone when it gets here. |

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2010? I have been giving this some thought over recent days so here goes;
1, - A trip to Scotland to photograph Azure Hawker, Northern Emerald, Highland Darter, Northern Damselfly, Summer plumaged Slavonian Grebe, and the Dolphins in the Moray Firth.
2, - Lord help me for even saying this one, White-faced Darter, my ultimate bogey species, I've been trying to bag this one for years!!
3, - To generally extend my range of butterfly images, I set myself the target of photographing all 5 of the UK Hairstreak species last year and I achieved it, so I'd like to get a few more species in the bag this year. |

There was an A5 leaflet produced last year by the Cairngorm National Park Authority, which should still be available next year. It's called "Damselflies and Dragonflies of the Cairngorms". As well as listing and describing the species, it has a list of some of the best sites and directions to them. There are also photos of the species on the leaflet, including some of mine and my husband's. |

There is a site in Abernethy Forest where it's found. |  | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
