| | | Nature Reserves of UK Seems a useful site trying to document all British sites of nature interest. Many of references are links to well-known sites ... but maybe helpful? Wildlife Extra - Dovedale National Nature Reserve |

| | | Re: Nature Reserves of UK I'm not a birder but I do see the point - do you want the best wildlife places in the country tramped over by the public ... or birders?! Quote: |

Dai | Yep. I think it is generally accepted that should a member of the public have the audacity to enter into an area where there may be birds, or god forgive even hides, they are considered a nuisance. They may even share a liking for birds, or wildlife in general, and those with decent equipment are further referred to as Dudes. Seems reasonable enough

at the time I called these morons many names but dude was not among them although they patently did have all the gear but no idea
Some members of the public behave stupidly no doubt, but so do some birders

| | | Re: Nature Reserves of UK Small wonder people do not understand birding, or moreso birders. Funny because I really enjoyed myself last week at Titchwell and Snettisham and saw none of this jealousy that seems to manifest itself on boards. So what if mummy or daddy bought their kids nice gear so that they may favour a decent hobby? Surely you would rather that than they be out theiving from birders vehicles in the car parks.
Don't get me wrong. I am not having a go at birders. I just find it completely unnecessary to use such derogatory slang about those who have a slightly different interest.
Rather like the low handicap golfers who never once played of 36 themselves
