| | | Dog. Not so much a post as a rant!
Driving into town this morning I got caught up in a long tailback behing a combine.
It's a farming area so no complaint.
As we hit the dual carriageway vehicles were swerving in all directions dodging what turned out to be a young sheepdog bitch.
NO ONE DID ANYTHING!
I pulled onto the verge and eventually marched out into the far carriageway and simply forced the drivers to stop whilst I caught the terrified animal and calmed her down.
What's wrong with these bloody people?

Well thank goodness you were there and saved her - well done you!
Have you managed to find her owner yet?

| | | Re: Dog. This isn't the first time that me and my wife have done this Cazzie, so after I had calmed the poor dog down I stopped the traffic again and passed her to my wife who nursed her, then we took her to the local kennels who will contact the RSPCA in an attempt to trace the owner.
The dog was fitted with a collar but no identification and no chip, so unless the owner searches for her I'm not hopeful on that score, having said that the dog was very friendly, though very foot sore, and we were assured that she would not be put down as she seemed most suitable for rehoming.
We couldn't take her in ourselves as we already have two, both also rescued.
After leaving the kennels I had to return home so that we could both clean up as the dog was liberally covered in cow dung and drooled all over us both, but what the hell!

| | | Re: Dog. Digit, good for you for helping the animal, no-one likes to see animal death on the roads especially if it is someones pet.
I do know what you mean about people these days, sometime ago i was driving in my village and noticed a body lying on the pavement, it turned out to be the elderly wife of a retired shopkeeper (She had slipped on ice) before i managed to turn on to this road from where i live around a dozen cars passed by all going in the direction i intended to travel and not one had stopped to help her.
She was in great pain having damaged a leg although it was not broken, i helped her into my car, took her home and got her indoors so i could clean up the wound for her, she just couldn't understand how people could be so callous to leave her just lying there.
I can as sadly, people these days care only about themselves.
Thank goodness there are still a few folks around like yourself who is prepared to help.

| | | Re: Dog. Oh good, all it takes is a liitle effort.
The head of the cancer support group that I attend recently saw a similar event and stopped and phoned for an ambulance.
None available he was told, not to be out done he took her there himself and waited for several hours so that he could see her safely home.
A very nice gesture I think and will never make the press I guess.

| | | Re: Dog. Those things never do Roy, all the press are interested in is stories of multiple murders and carnage and of course Mp's expences, but i better not get into a politics discussion otherwise we would be here all night.
