I am very new here, and I just want to say that this must be the only site where you can have a 24 threader about Grouse Droppings. I LOVE IT!
I can't wait to find the next one woot!

From the texture and shape it looks more like innards than poo. Cats etc. leave gall bladder and sometimes paunches (stomach) of their prey. The result is a lot like the subject of your photo.
It would have been different colours but will have turned black as it dried in the sun.
That`s my best guess
