Could you give me a source for the Scottish records of the Ruddy Darter? I had a look on the NBN gateway and could only see one for near Glasgow, which is quite a jump to the south of Skye. I know that the NBN gateway can be quite out of date at times though.
I remain to be convinced that the dragonfly in the picture is a Ruddy Darter, it doesn't look in the least waisted to me, I'd say the eye colour is spot on for Highland Darter. The legs don't look black enough for Ruddy, there are definitely paler areas on them.
The side of the thorax isn't clear enough to see definitively, at least with my eyesight and on my monitor. |
