| | | British wilderness proposal This was announced last week: http://www.guardian.co.uk/conservati...601151,00.html
On the face of it, one of the most exciting proposals for British wildlife for years. Any comments?

| | | Re: British wilderness proposal It certainly gets my vote. Even just a restoration of the hedgerows and ponds across the UK back to pre-war status would be a big help to british wildlife, but to set aside huge areas of land would be superb.
Looks like the big mammals will be taking the spotlight, but some of the biggest benefits should be seen amongst the insects, reptiles and amphibians with hopefully a big and increase in rural birds as well. |

| | | Re: British wilderness proposal Seeing some areas of Britain filmed from the air, tends to suggest that wilderness already almost exists in some parts - Scottish highlands for example, so it will be interesting to see how far this suggestion progresses. Can we envisage holiday safaris in the future to observe reintroduced species, in addition to those naturally present? Some groups declining in numbers might just be restored, in an environment which presumably will be returned to the wild. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
