| | | Sugar solution mystery? After finding quite a few dead bees in the garden
Made a solution of brown sugar and water poured it into a shallow coaster. Placed it on a Flower high rock.
Thinking to give Bumble bees an easy energy drink. Didn't see a beastie of any description go near it.
Forget about it and left it out overnight. Although it was precariously balance on a rock. Sometime during the night the solution had been completely consumed, the coaster wasn't even the least bit sticky.
Nor had it moved.
What mysterious beastie of the night might have slurp it up?

| | | Re: Sugar solution mystery? I'm going to have to try this - how interesting! I think I agree with thunder, but I might position the vessel in front of a security camera and find out for sure. |

| | | Re: Sugar solution mystery? Did it rain overnight? Moths may well have drank it, but I'm sure there would be a residue left - any rain could have watered the stickiness down. Sandy's idea about a camera sounds good - do you have CCTV? |

| | | Re: Sugar solution mystery? There was at least, a couple of teaspoons full the sugar solution. Don't know how much Moths drink.
I did have a Hedgehog that dined on the slugs and snails, but haven't seen it for a while. Maybe that's the answer................ then there was the headless Toad skin, its insides having been eaten. I found one morning not so long ago.
Anyhow I've put out an even larger amount of Sugar solution tonight. no visitors as yet. I've the camera ready, just in case
