| | | The most remote locations Hi,
What would you guys say the best remote locations in the British Isle are for wildlife? Planning on some trips next year, im thinking Isle of Mull, etc but I would like to know of some more very remote locations on the mainland.
Best wishes

| | | Re: The most remote locations From Loch Carron round the coast to the Kyle of Tounge you can more or less stick a pin in the map and pick your location. Plenty of peninsulas with no road access to the very point.
Like Canna in carlj's post it is actualy easier to get around by boat than on land.
Just remember at the more remote spots you realy are away from any services and you do need to carry in everything you are going to need, no chance of nipping down to the shop. This can limit how far in or how long you can stop.
I have done numerous 4-10 day sessions and these have required that you have forage for at least some of your own food. |

| | | Re: The most remote locations If you can do the sea kayak thing it does open the area up a bit more, there are over 1000 uninhabited islands.
There are also spots inland but sticking to the coast gives you more diversity of wildlife and a more varied diet |

| | | Re: The most remote locations You can't really beat Mull for wildlife, it's everywhere on land sea and air. Also you can get from Mull to the Treshnish Isles. Very much recomended specially in Spring. The Outer Hebrides are beautiful and more remote then Mull. The Uists are great for birds like corncrake for instance. The Monarch Isles off North Uist (Autumn watch). Harris is wonderful, spent a holiday on Scalpay just off Harris and had regular close views of Otters on the sea shore. Barra, Coll, Colonsay,Islay all lovely remote islands with a totally diferent atmosphere to mainland Scotland.
On the mainland Ardnamurchan for Pine Martens & Otters. Kinlochewe area for Pine Martens. Skye for Eagles & Otters. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
