| | | Watch out, there's a Vulture about A second Ruppell's Vulture was carried off by high winds during a flying display at the Yorkshire Dales Falconry and Conservation Centre near Settle a week ago today.
The first escaped at Easter and neither have been recovered yet.
Hardly British wildlife granted, but the ever observant WABbers might catch a glimpse of these birds with a seven foot winspan.
The centre would be grateful for any information. (01729 822832) |

| | | Re: Watch out, there's a Vulture about The local paper reports that they are called Dumb and Dumber! Must be both females I thought then, but no, Dumb is the male who went missing last week and Dumber was a female.
You might be seeing some Vulturettes soon!
I'm expecting some incoming fire as well!

It's almost a risk making their adventures common knowledge.

The centre would be grateful for any information. (01729 822832) | If anyone sees them they'll be reported on the bird information hotlines (Birdguides or RBA), either as escapes or perhaps (if the finder doesn't get a good look) given a mega alert as possible genuine vagrants (in theory, Griffon Vultures could make it naturally across the North Sea...) |

| | | Re: Watch out, there's a Vulture about - may have seen birds hi my name is ella, i got on the internet to determine if any one had been reporting to the humane society vultures that have been seen, i have seen them at least times, and ironically have had family members come to me to ask me what did i know about them.
I was first toldby a nefrew that he saw a big black bird come across the road and swiped a kitten running, we laughed at him and joked about him being on drugs, then my sister told me, the sister i was with who was joking him too, told me she then saw it.
well the last time, i saw one was saturday, 8/1/09, 2weeks before that.
i have seen this bird on the parkway twice before feasting on a carcass.
then i saw one on top of a high rise building i kept trying to get closer but it flew away. stayed there for at least 40 min
My family again saw this bird and reported that it swope down and take stray animals from the road.
but i can understand why it it where it is , there is a big wood marsh field area, directly across the street from her, vacant been for over 25yrs, good marsh area, i think thats where it lives. most of the sitings are in front of this area, and on the pkwy
again last siting was saturday, 1 1/a week before that, familty saw it 2 weeks before that, and almost several times, a month for the past 4 months i beleive. if you ahve any questins you may contact me here.
thanks
not sure if these are your birds, but i thought the article i read noted this area
ok thanks I can be reached for more info.
ella
PS I only registered to post this response i can be contacted on (salina@inbox.com)
