I guess from your way of writing that you, larachmor, are either a serving policeman or an ex-policeman.
I don't care whether the person who left the dogs in the car was a policeman, policewoman, the old geezer down the street or the queen. The person did wrong and two dogs suffered before they died therefore deserving punishment. |

What a lot of people also don't realise, is that regardless of the outcome of any legal proceedings, the police officer is also subject to the Police Disciplinary Code. Even if found to be innocent under normal law, he could still be found guilty of an offence under that code which ultimately could lead to him being sacked, not just "allowed to retire with a nice pension". | |

| | | Re: Police Dogs I have no doubt the Policeman involved is full remorse but it will happen again not only with animals but also with children.
Could some enterprising company come up with a gadget that would detect movement in the car and if the temperature in the vehicle was high it would trigger an alarm to warn of the dangers possibly even having a display on the rear window etc

| | | Re: Police Dogs What amazes me is that the bloke parked his car in the sun...I've been walking dogs within a few hundred yards of where they died for many years. The police headquarters are set in many acres of mature woodland. There must have been plenty of places he could have left his car under the shade of the trees. The dog pens themselves are deep into the wood. The car parks are exposed in places but there are many areas where a car with dogs could have been left safely in the shade.
