| | | Cat problem I have a problem with neighbours cats coming into garden and hunting the birds. I like all animals but don't want them killing the birds that I spend a lot of money on feeding. There's only one side of the fence they get in and we plan to replace this when we can afford it. I've tried squirting them with water and chasing them off. I'm thinking of getting one of those Infra-red repellers or something..are they any good? Can anyone reccommend anything? Cheers. |

| | | Re: Cat problem The infra sound repellers do work, we used to have lots of proplems with cats but it nearly all stopped wih one of these, although i think our next door cats have now gone deaf in there old age and it doesn't effect them so much. But it got them out the habit of being in the garden |

| | | Re: Cat problem I couldn't tell you to be honest Paul, we very rarely have and squirrels in the Garden which is suprising as we're only 100yrds from a big wooded area. |

| | | Re: Cat problem This was something I was worried about, if it deters cats, will it do same for other animals? The one I've seen is in the wildlife trusts bird food magazine ( Ernest Charles Birdseeds and Wildlife Gardening ) and it says it has different settings for cats, dogs rats and squirrels. |

| | | Re: Cat problem maybe that why lol. There are many reports that eventually they deafen the cats to the frequency, hence why thet can sometimes come back.
If you have a problem with squirrels? eating bird food? make up some chili oil and spry onto bird food, birds cant taste it, squirrels hate it |

| | | Re: Cat problem We get at least 3 different cats in our garden, however 2 of them only come in occasionally whilst this chap
is a frequent visitor. We thought at first it came in because we have 2 guinea pigs but we have also see him lurking behind some of our bushes near where the birds feeds and once we even saw him leap out trying to catch one.
Even worse was when a ginger cat nearly caught a collared dove who luckily managed to escape all be it without a few feathers leaving the cat hanging by its front paws from the bird table.
We have a dog who we let out the moment we see any cats but this doesn't seem to stop them especially the black one. We have thought about ultra-sonic repellers but we are not sure if it will effect the dog or the guinea pigs as well |

| | | Re: Cat problem oh dear, persistent little blighters those puddycats. My parents have two dogs which frighten the cats off in their garden. Like I say, that one I mentioned earlier seems to have different settings for different animals and I presume you can turn it off when the dog is in garden anyway. |
