| | Noises from the loft This is a random post I was wondering if anyone could help or had any ideas!
For the last 3 nights we have started hearing noises coming from our loft. About a month ago we found a dead baby chick on our doorstep which looked like it had fallen from a nest on the roof and we thought the rustling was them. Yet we only seem to hear it at night and the noises only happen every few hours in the night.
We put it down to bats as they are most likely to be awake during the night however the noises got louder last night like an animal walking across which seemed too loud for bats, maybe?
I'm a bit too worried to go check in case I get a bit of a surprise!
I wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it could be?
Sorry I havent given much detail ! |

| | | Re: Noises from the loft My money is on birds, with Starlings as favourite, or mice. Both can produce noise out of all proportion to their size.
If it is birds then you're likely to see them emerging or entering somewhere. |

| | | Re: Noises from the loft I hate to say it but rats do like lofts and they are quite noisy especially if you do not have loft insulation, if you take a look chances are you wont see them but you will certainly see their droppings or notice the smell from them, lets hope it is as Hedge Witch has said instead.

| | | Re: Noises from the loft Yeah its not a pleasant thought, but it could be rats, our neighbours had to get pest control in for rats in their loft.
The first they knew about it was the pitter-patter of tiny feet at night....
Could also be death watch beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum), I've heard them and they sound like something much bigger. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
