| | | Re: Unusual one.. Creating underground rabbit habitat/home under sheds.. ^^ thanks again Vellyforge mate.
Yes i agree access is going to be essential. So i'll start looking into it, even if it means me and a mate sliding the wendy house out of the way to lift a slab or 2..
Vent wise yes 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 waste pipe, solvent weld type will be used just so as it's there if needed.. easier to utilise what's there rather than have to install it at a later date.
NEW IDEA...
Yes see that drain inspection extension from screwfix above. Of course what sits on it?? a secure man hole cover .. Perfect.
I could either place the house over the manhole cover or jigsaw a 500mm hole in the base of the house to access Think i'll slide the house over it
It's comming together and it being started tomorrow
I'm about to check a couple of browned conifers for birds then remove them to make way. (Conifers going will make way for Holly (berried type) and honeysuckle climers that will encase the back, side and top of the house.

thickness 22mm, weight 15 kg
Only £14 with free 2 connector pegs
That's some pretty serious stuff for rabbits to sit on! |

| | | Re: Unusual one.. Creating underground rabbit habitat/home under sheds.. Wow! I wish everyone would go to this effort for their rabbits, far too many are stuck in hutch with too small a run which can't be good for their happiness or health. |

No they'll not be sat on it mate.. it's for a base, under the compacted soil that they will be sat on.. It's to stop them from digging out and i think is safer than wire chicken mesh
Does anyone know of any less substantial stuff to line with below the soil floor??

| | | Re: Unusual one.. Creating underground rabbit habitat/home under sheds.. No, I wasn't thinking of them sitting directly on it, but as you say, on a layer of earth.
Galvanized chicken wire or even Twilweld (rectangular/square mesh) is available in differing gauges and I would have thought that decent stuff would've lasted for years.
Any plastic material is likely to get nibbled? |

| | | Re: Unusual one.. Creating underground rabbit habitat/home under sheds.. Ahh yes i agree. They are all little sods for nibbling and i was quite miffed that they'd chewed great chunks out of a £110 cage they very day i bought it
So i'll double up the wire and cover it well
TODAY i've removed 6 conifers, all 3mtrs high and they were ok until i dug the stumps out That took some pulling and pushing !!
The slabs are all here from my bro-inlaws compound, ex-council ones 2inch think 3x2's. Although with 20 of them i may of overdone it and killed my back in the process | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
