| | | Natural History Museum at Tring Wasn't quite sure where to post this, but anyway ....!
I was completely unaware that there was another 'branch' of the Natural History Museum other than the main one in London until someone on here (Jim Ford) mentioned it to me a while back. Finally got around to visiting over the Easter weekend and it was absolutely fascinating! The main thing I found of interest were the examples of British birds, and quite surprised that the sizes of many of them were quite different to what I had in mind .. so now I know what I thought were plovers I had seen at local reservoirs can't have been as they were much too big! Was also quite surprised to see avocets were much smaller than I imagined, too, not having ever seen them in the wild!
Anyway, a great day out and would thoroughly recommend it

| | | Re: Natural History Museum at Tring I have been there twice and I really liked it. The amount of specimins they have for such a small place is great. I liked the dodo they had, that was funny lol. |

Jim | I *did* Jim! No idea where those must have been?! I didn't even see any eggs either ... in reply to your PM, I had intended to go at the same time as a visit to see those orchids, but was stuck for somewhere to go on a rainy Easter sunday, so thought the museum would be the ideal place! (Think the weather turned out quite reasonable in the end though.) Will have to try and find somewhere else to visit and combine it with a look in at the orchids ..
Yes, do give it a go sometime, Hedgie .. it is well worth it!
