Spring/Summer firsts.....

We saw a lone swift over the house last night.

I always reckon on,
Spring's on it's way, frogs are spawning,15th March this year,
Spring's here, first swallows, first week in April,
Spring's definately here,first cuckoo,yesterday,
Spring's getting on,first swifts.

Went on a 5 hour birdwatch around my local area and clocked these summer visitors..

Swallow x16
Willow Warbler x6
Chifchaff x3
Blackcap x1
Garden Warbler x1
Wheater x6

I noted 39 species in total numbering 241 birds, Isn't Spring is such a fantastic birding period

I have heard three lesser whitethroats in song this weekend, one in Oxford city of all places!, one in Faringdon and one in Dorset Oh and standard whitethroats in Dorset too
