| | | Nearly a good one Hi
This thread is abouth the photograph that got away, the one that was so close but it never quite came off. I have alot stacked away but i have chosen three. Nearly a cuckoo
The first is the back of a Cuckoo, i had never got close to a Cuckoo and then on one day I crept upto this little beaut however despite watching it for about 5 minutes I just could not get in front of it. Nearly a Fox
The second was a Fox i watched for ages got into the right position but then just as it was about to come into full view a dog ran from behind me and chased it into the reeds. Nearly a Cracker
My third and final one was a magic moment, it was early on a winters morning I was staring across Loch near Aviemore and the water surface was like glass but there was an earie mist in the distance. Ihad entirely the wrong lens no light and then out of no where came two Whoopers. I panned with them and clicked, no matter how i work on them they will never make a good photograph but it was a beautiful moment that only naturalists know. So close!
I dare members to show us your nearly shots!
Roy

If you look for a picture of a cuckoo in Google or whatever, you rarely see odd poses and unusual angles. Now I know how the back of one might look when at rest. Is this a rufous female, or is it a juvenile?
It will be interesting to see other people's "outtakes".

| | | Re: Nearly a good one Fab that you saw a cuckoo at all, though. I've never seen one, and I only heard one for the first time last year. |

| | | Re: Nearly a good one Here's one that got away. I was watching the Shetland pony when the fox walked right up to within a couple of feet of it and stared for a while and then walked on. Neither animal should any concern but they didn't turn my way either

| | | Re: Nearly a good one Great thread Roy, will be interesting to see others shots. AS Hedge says these can be useful for IDing birds that are not facing you or are obscured by branches etc. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
