I also hadn't realised are we allowed to search for references? I haven't really been using any I just want to know if I've been needlessly guessing. |

Course you can look stuff up (not that I could stop you if I wanted to ), s'only meant to be a bit of fun.
I used the references I've got and the web to ID some of them in the first place.

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull Blue hare, mountain hare, Lepus timidus, that's the one . The location was a bit of a clue.
I think the difference between mountain and brown hare skulls are fairly difficult to spot though, especially from pictures.
How about this one?

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull Blimey Steve, looks like an aligator!
The teeth look like a carnivore but the size says it must be an insectivore (or maybe eats slugs, snails, worms, etc.). The lack of any visible eye sockets leads me to suggest that it's a mole.
But it should be obvious to all by now that I'm pretty much just guessing!
Dave P.
P.s. I know moles do have eyes but very small and under-developed ones.
