| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull I can sup my dram in contentment now thanks Roy and Hedgie.
I did wonder about mink but with no scale wasn't sure, it does look a lot bigger in the images to me.
Wonder what it had been eating to wear teeth down like that.
I also zoomed in the fur and noticed it was pretty fine and looks like a fawn mink and not black, can you confirm that?
Nice one HW, I really can't imagine Roy in the duff ID group!
This is a pretty good site for the unfamilair skull stuff. WILL'S SKULL PAGE - HOMEPAGE
EDIT - having just reviewed Roys entry, I can confirm that I have seen a large copper in Gloucestershire so don't worry - they're out there!
And Choughs, well at least one, feeding in the gutter of a bungalow in Cheltenham Road.
EDIT AGAIN - Am I going to retract the word ****. No, just post the bird skull image HW, please!

Reason: Confirmation of species presence despite what the books say about extinction

The Mink carcase appeared a normal colour however I am definetly in the mis identifcation club after wishfully thinking I may have found a baby Sand Lizard which was clearly and definetly a Newt.

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull Not to worry Roy, an RSPCA inspector mate of mine was called to a house in Lancaster by a woman who said she had a crocodile in her garden pond.
Yes....it was a Great Crested Newt!

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull * Just to get the thread back on track *
The pictures that I posted are mink (confusion arose when the ID was prematurely given, and then retracted). * Let the game continue with the next mystery skull *
(Woodman, my bird skull is as yet unidentified, and therefore not an appropriate subject for this game). |

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull I considered snipe but think the bill is too slender and with it having that little downward bend at the tip I'll join Camo with Woodcock.

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull OK folks, time's up.
All very close but the answer is Redshank. From a dead bird found washed up on the edge of Morecambe Bay.
I can see the Woodcock connection though.

| | | Re: Slightly morbid quiz - name that skull Oh well, I'm rubbish at waders when they're alive, never mind dead ones. Also there's no redshank skull in my book. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it )
