| | Tiny coloured balls ... eggs? Hi,
Today I have been weeding and scraping mossy stuff from surface of the soil around one of my potted ornmental trees.
I dug a little deeper and unearthed lots of tiny balls, orange and red, they looked like sweeties or cake decorations.
It occured to me that they might be insect eggs so I covered them back up again.
I don't have my camera with me today unfortunately but could anyone tell me if these characteristics are indicative of a particular species at all?
I assume ladybird eggs are laid on leaves etc so under the soil is puzzling me... |

I do feel rather foolish now, I concur.
On second thoughts I think this makes sense, the balls did look quite man-made!
Funny isn't it, you learn something every day.
I never knew fertilizer took on this form.
Either way, eggs or fertilizer, they'd be best to leave in the soil.
Thanks for the rapid response guys! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
