| | | Yellow eggs or stinging nettle disease?
Hi folks,
while walking the in the Cot Valley (Cornwall) just over a week ago, I spotted some yellow 'blobs' on a stinging nettle. Does anyone know what this is? My initial thoughts were either insect (Lepidoptera?) eggs or some kind of disease. Any ideas?

insect eggs are usualy more regular then that- i'd edge towards disease |

Possibly Nettle Rust fungus, Puccinia urticata. |

Hrm...I thought that it was when I took the photo, but on closer inspection you're right. It looks more like bramble? Apparently, I'm about as good as telling plants apart as I am telling insect eggs from fungus

Heh, okay, not a bramble then (the leaves just looked bramble/rose-like to me - you can tell I'm a botanist at heart, can't you  ). Any other suggestions?
