As most of you know I've got some foxes that I feed in our local wood, in the past 5 weeks 3 of them have been found dead, no sign of any injury so I'm worried that they may have been poisoned but saying that why would anyone do that , there are no livestock around just fields. My friend has buried them in his garden just in case they have been poisoned and the crows and magpies don't eat them. Very worrying |

Very worrying | Erm...yes they may have been...but people must not forget animals do die...from old age or illness just like you and i....or were they young cubs or something?

They were all found in the same place under some bushes. It's a bit worrying for dog walkers as well it's a very popular area for dogs. We don't want to draw too much attention to the problem because we don't want just anyone to know where they are and how many of them (12) because there are a lot of people about that get a kick out of shooting and poisoning wildlife. There are no houses around there just my friends bungalow on the edge of the wood so they're not making a nuisance of themselves, it's just very puzzling |

| | | Re: Whats happened to my foxes ? It is a worry I know when you get to know local wildlife and they then disappear, you may never know what happened to them, but you can rest assured that other foxes will come along soon.
They say a high percentage of young foxes are killed on the road,I have actually seen 3 cubs within feet of each other run over on the A127 which is a very busy road here.
There is the fact too that there are people who like to kill whether it be wildlife or pets.Cats have been targets recently in our area. Some have been shot,a few stabbed.....why oh why are some humans like this?

ellen | I really think that when God made the world he should have left human beings out it would have been a much better place. |

some one mentioned on this thread earlier that if the ice cream van were to be left around, that he or she would be the first there. its not the foxes fault.
unfortunately they eat meat and if they can get to smaller animals they will.
i have had both foxes and pheasants in my garden and the foxes havent bothered with them. but if i were to have chickens , i would have to make sure they dont get attacked by foxes. we would more than likely have to use concrete to keep them out. please dont hate foxes, they are wild animals.
have you considered feeding the foxes ?
this is one of the reasons i have been feeding them, so maybe they dont have to kill, i know that i cant be sure of this, but i'd like to think i have helped not only the fox but also keep another animal alive.
