You would also be breaking the law by deliberately planting a non-native species in the countryside.

What with compulsory set-aside being scrapped I really would advise that some contact with the wildlife trust would be appropriate if only to gauge the importance of the site. Then they might be able to assist in the future management of the site in some way e.g. grant-funding, ELS agri-environment scheme, etc.
