I have a picture of the same animal from 23rd June and the entire vertical portion of the antlers from the junction up has been put on since then. Spectacular stuff and he's not quite done yet.
Sadly he didn't hang round for a second shot, no autographs etc. etc. Part of an unusually unfulfilling afternoon in the park with much of the wildlife lying up in the bracken (including the largest tick I've seen this year which was rather too keen for my tastes!)
At one point though there were 5 kestrels hovering in a line across the northern meadow - a bit like beaters on a shoot - but my camera is simply not up to such things! They weren't after the winged ant alates which formed a cloud along one of the paths - I heard an african couple calling them 'termites'.
