Wildlife galore!

I was out walking my dog before, only out for 20 mins and in that time saw lots of wildlife. Ambling down the farmers track i saw at least 10 flutterby's (he he butterflies), 4 different types, but not sure what. Then I looked up to see two kestrals mobbing a Buzzard (never seen that before, its usually the crows and seagulls doing that, guessing might be because they're protectin young?) A dragonfly. Tuns of harvest flies , always manage to get them flying in my eye , grass hoppers, (well i heard then) and lots of beetles. Oh and lots of ants. You can see where they've dug nests between paving slabs. Ah yes and swallows, swifts and house martins, ill miss them when they migrate again.....
Must be the nice weather we're having recently

Re: Wildlife galore!

Sounds like a nice walk you had, you should take a camera with you to record what you see. The walk will take at least twice as long though.

I know what you mean Ron,a walk takes me twice as long when I take my camera.
I like to go out early before most people are up at weekends, best time especially when the weather is like it is at the moment.Better for the dog too!
There is so much to see,if you just stop to look-and listen.

Re: Wildlife galore!

It was really good at priory water this year, everyone just wandered around all day taking photos, it was a really relaxed and an enjoyable day.
If you get the chance to go I highly recommend it.

I will be there next year, wouldn't miss it after reading the reports, and everyone seems to be so friendly and helpful

Re: Wildlife galore!

Hiya Ron and Kayleigh, thanks for the suggestion, next time i take her ill bring the camera along. I live on the edge of an estate, but im lucky enough that our house is overlooking the farmers fields so lots of wildlife, plenty of hedges and overgrown borders thst the farmers leave alone. Later on we get lots of canada geese there which would be nice to photograph.
Hi Ellen, I prefer taking the dog early in the morning too, and in the evening when the bats are out and about, dont think ill try ant take pics of them though . Sometimes they fly so close you can feel the breeze as they go past, tis brill
