| | | Urban wildlife I start work very early most mornings and for the last couple of weeks have had the pleasure of seeing 2 foxes in the middle of the town where i live its looks a dog and a vixen.I dont know if anybody else has noticed an increase in their local population of them recently. They seem to have a bad reputation with some people which is a shame as they are very cool animals.Yesterday morning i was extremely lucky and saw my favourite british mammal the Badger run across in front of my car put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. |

| | | Re: Urban wildlife Moz, you're so lucky! Foxes seem to enjoy going through the rubbish that is discarded in urban areas. It has it's risks though, what with traffic! How lovely to see a pair! The only badgers I've seen are dead ones at the side of the road

| | | Re: Urban wildlife Hi Tracey, I am very fortunate where i live in worcestershire being surrounded by so much countryside with a massive variation in wildlife but this is still only the 3rd live badger i have seen in clear view and it was the biggest one to date and by the speed it travelled it looked very healthy. There is a big push locally by farmers to cull these creatures for fear of spreading TB disgraceful! |

sounds like the wildlife down there is pretty good The badger cull has been rejected , how ever Wales has still to decide what way they are going to go. There's a good thread re this in the mammal forum. A friend of mine who worked at Vane Farm was down in Worcestershire, he was involved with the Peregrine project down there. I don't know if he is still down there or not, he may well have left if the young have all fledged.

| | | Re: Urban wildlife Quite often at night I have seen badgers going up and down our road. There are 2 badger setts that I know of in the area.
We also have foxes, but I must say the only creature that I have caught ripping open our waste sacks are cats!!
