NATIONAL CONVENTION of SLUGS!!?? was going on on the new grass seed i have planted next to my existing lawn.

Brown ones, yellow ones, black ones, sort of marble effect looking ones??

Re: Slugs!!

Oh dear, the Slugs sure can be a nuisance, I know, but I rather like them, I'm sad like that . Yes where's the Hedgehogs when you need them. Always better to encourage nature's own pest control such as Hedgehogs and Slow Worms.

Re: Slugs!!

Grated Carrot!

What a splendiferous idea

I've got one of those LONG REACH GRABBER DEVICES'S that the elderly use for picking things up off the floor or in awkward places's i inherited from my aunt and it's very useful for getting blanketweed out of the pond

Anyway i picked up the slugs gently and LOBBED them into MY OVERGROWN WEED area of the garden!!

Should be happy there for a while

I don't mind them and wouldn't hurt them but my NEW GRASS SEED!!!

well some measures just have to be taken!!

lol

Re: Slugs!!

As it is a national pastime, we should start a campaign to get slug and snail lobbing into the olympics for 2012. Then at least Britain might have a chance at a medal!

Beer traps work very well and the slugs die happy. Even better if you can get someone else to clean out the traps afterwards!

Love the olympic idea Rob

You can be president of the commitee if you want?

Tried the Beer trap thing years back

Was one of the most revolting tasks ever undertaken by man i reckon?

I would challenge you to a slug-throwing contest, just to prove how wrong you are......But, unfortunatley, I couldn't condone such blatant cruelty towards our slimy friends - so you'll just have to take my word for it!

Re: Slugs!!

I'm not sure the olympic contest should be judged purely on distance, but on factors like how stealthly you are when you fling, knowledge of which neighbours are on holiday and how innocent you look afterwards.

Hmmm, "Self-cleaning slug beer trap". If I can just come up with an idea for that I might try pitching it on dragon's den....
