| | | Whats under my greenhouse? My greenhouse is on top of a bank beside a pond. There is an area built up with large stones against the bank and water feeds to the pond through it. Not running water as such just drains from ditch at side of the track when raining. There are signs of burrowing amongst the rocks. My dogs have continuously dug around the greenhouse so much so the floor inside is collapsing. The dogs get agitated at times when in the house and when the door is opened they are at the greenhouse area in a flash hackles raised etc..
The greenhouse is at least 60ft away from the house. What can they hear or sense? Anyone any idea's? |

| | | Re: Whats under my greenhouse? Not frogs, RATS!!. Our springer used to go mad, she used to try to dig through the floor of the shed to get at whatever was under there. When we moved the shed there was a RATS nest. |

| | | Re: Whats under my greenhouse? Can I make a suggestion? If you get an old tray, or two, fill them with damp sand and smooth them off but don't pack down tightly, then put them near the entrance to the area where digging is occuring and leave over-night. See what tracks are left in the morning.
If you're near fields, it could be rabbits. In towns foxes or as suggested rats. It's easier to deal with a problem if you know what you're dealing with first.
If you are able to take a shot of the tracks, then perhaps we can help you id them.
Obviously, you'd need to keep the dogs in and there's always the possibility of a cat using the tray as a convenient toilet over-night!

| | | Re: Whats under my greenhouse? Thanks for the suggestions. Don't know if I can do the flour/sand thing as it is not a level area and there is not really a definitive path that is being used.
Tend to believve the rats theory on the basis that the cats have caught two in the past. Will have a look and see if there is any more evidence. |

| | | Re: Whats under my greenhouse? We live next to woods and also near a fishing lodge, we also had dug out holes under our garden shed. One day I saw the culprit, it was a vole! They look a bit like rats but have smaller ears and a small tail. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
