Unidentified Spider

I was wandering around the garden yesterday looking for bugs, birds and things to photograph when I discovered this spider...I have failed to identify him/her. There are chevron-like markings on its back and the front appears to be red, any ideas please? The web looked like a funnel web/tube web/tunnel web:




PS He/she moved extremely fast!

Just been a-googling, could it be an "Agelena labyrinthica" spider?

Certainly looks that way - though I can't confirm it from these pictures.
Get someone to tickle its web with a bit of grass and when it comes out take a picture
(it'll come out fast so be ready!) try and get a head shot if you can

I didn't have to tickle web with grass as it was guarding the entrance but it did shoot in rather fast when I tried to get one more closer shot lol. This is the best I could get I'm afraid, I do hope it shows what you need for ID purposes. Many thanks for your response.

How big was this spider? It looks like it was eating some kind of monkey so I'd guess it was one of those Giant Scottish spiders?

Ho Ho...not sure what you are on but it's no monkey, looks more like a female damselfly to me...and it's not Scottish, it lives in Bedfordshire....Should've gone to specsavers!
