| | | Invisible Leak in Pond Hello
I've got a small wildlife pond in my garden (approx 1.5m diameter) made using a butyl liner. The trouble is it's developed an invisible leak about 10cm below where the water-line should be. As the hole in the liner is too small to see I'm unable to use a puncture repair kit on it. Any advice on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated by myself and the resident frog tadpoles.
Thank you! |

Fill it past the leak. Then look for wet soggy ground then you will at least have some idea of where the leak is.
I doubt you will be able to see the hole if its tiny.
Hope this helps. |

| | | Re: Invisible Leak in Pond Thanks, Kayleigh.
I probably should've mentioned that the pond is in the middle of my patio - small garden, nowhere else to put it - so it's impossible to see where the ground is getting soggy.
I've also just realised that I should've probably posted this on the Wildlife Gardening Forum. Oops - that'll teach me to read things through properly!
I've had a quick look round the rest of the site and it looks really interesting - glad I've joined. |

| | | Re: Invisible Leak in Pond Be careful in assuming that its a leak,,, If you have only recently put the pond in it can be amazing how fast some warm and breezy weather can take that much water from the pond if its exposed....

No, it's definitley a leak. The pond's been there for over a year, and the level drops immediatley after any rain fall.
Thanks |

Should work....

| | | Re: Invisible Leak in Pond Cheers, Coasty - what an excellent idea! It's very breezy here in London at the moment, but when we next get a still day I'm going to raid my bean bag and give it a go.
Thanks for your help. |

| | | Re: Invisible Leak in Pond You'll be relieved to hear that, as far as I'm aware, my patio doors are giant-proof. I shall be hiding my goose that lays golden eggs just as a precautionary measure, though. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
