| | | Hayfever If anyone suffers from hayfever that doesn't respond to over-the-counter medicines, can I recommend to you a new drug called Grazax? I've had allergies to grass pollen all my life and never found anything that worked (despite all the claims on the packets, tv etc). It's no fun at all trying to track wildlife when your nose is running, your chest is wheezing and your eyes streaming!
But this stuff seems to have done the trick for me. You can only get it on prescription and you have to start it a few months before the allergy season starts. You also have to take the first does with a nurse and a doctor present in case of anaphylactic shock.
But this summer's been a revelation. I can walk through a field of long grass, raise clouds of pollen, and be fine. So I wanted to pass the info on in case others could benefit. |

| | | Re: Hayfever sounds like it's pretty strong stuff I always mean to get myself to the doctor in advance of the hay fever season, but I never do! I also get limited help from clarityn\benadryl etc, but I find teh beconaise nasal spray works really well. Sorts out the sneezing and itchy eyes, although taking feels just like getting a load of water up you nose at the pool!

| | | Re: Hayfever Modern drugs certainly have their place at times! I use cetirizine hydrochloride whenever my itchy eyes drive me nuts. I have chewed honeycomb which certainly helps relieve some of the symptoms and until you get down to the wax it tastes better than modern medicine. The New Scientist did an article a few years ago explaining how honeycomb actually works. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
