Snail. Fast camera needed

I have gathered enough courage to post a photo.

I found this tricky to get right, you need to give enough "lead" to a fast subject. Missed it twice.

Done with my lovely old Nikon 4500.

Love the shot. How long were you waiting in the hide before one came along

No way you caught that one live, It's obviously been stuffed and posed.

I had barely opened the bag to see if I had any sandwiches before I put the hide up when this shot past. Stayed for the rest of the day and nothing else moved.

Going back tomorrow to see if I can still see it. (bit short-sighted).

Well, I have tried to key it out but in about the third choice, it becomes apparent that I have no idea as to the characteristics that are crucial. I know with expertise visual IDs are possible, but to key stuff out, you really need a specimen in front of you.

Any help gratefully received.

See I told you Meta menardi that you had inspired me and I now know how difficult it is to capture these speedy creatures I find it even more difficult to ID them and all I know is this is a slug

I'd say Cepaea nemoralis - Brown-lipped Copse Snail

Might be in the genus Helix now!
