A good day for gardening!

What good weather we are having here in Bewdley, lots of sunshine and feeling warm ! A good day to spend my time at Pips Villa (my home) gardening. Whats to do first- fill the bird/ squirrel feeders and nice to see the Siskins still around! Then prepare borders for the new micro meadow, raking off excess soil and transferring that over to my other old border which is to become a informal wild flower lawn that will marry to the existing lawn! Then planting the SVR border, before i mowed my lawns, so lots doing, but the best thing is ,there was lots to see too!!! Out in the spinney I spotted a Jay dancing in the sward and between the trees. Then on the SVR platform a butterfly came past me and rested on the track, a Peacock! Then another came past. Not long after that I spotted my first Orange Tip sipping on the Honesty that grows on the verges of my garden. The next butterfly was a large white so at this time i'm feeling delighted to see the butterflies active in the warmth of the suns rays! After mowing and filling up the duck's drinking hole in the lawn they soon flew in and nagged me for bread and have spent the rest of their time eating drinking and resting there! Bee activity has also been busy and lots of them about making the most of the blue flowers and whats left nectar wise from the hellebores. Then to top it all off my first pair of Bull Finches came along for the Crab Apple Blossom, these birds are with out a doubt my favourite birds so a real big treat for me! I can't wait for more days like this, all this activity has certainly made me one happy gardener!

Just thought i'd share my day in the garden with you- cheers jez.

Re: A good day for gardening!

It rained here all morning too but as I was at work it didn't bother me too much... The sun was warm enough this afternoon to dry the grass so I, too, mowed it this evening.

It is such a delight to be in the garden as it wakes from its winter slumbers - with the sounds of lambs bleating from the fields behind the garden, the blue tits telling me off for disturbing their feeding, the bees buzzing...... wish I didn't have to work

And it rained here just as I was sowing my parsnip seed - they loved it. And then the sun came out and they loved it all the more. Beetroot tomorrow.
