I've hunted with HH since 1969 and they do not have any significant pace while on the ground.
I'd give 100 to 1 odds on anyone showing me a HH out run a rabbit on open ground. I could out run one and you can see I'm no spring chicken.
We can agree to differ but if we do I see you as burying your head in the sand.
Now ostriches, they can run fast. Your not confusing the two are you?

I was joking about the HH x Greyhound....... |

Nothing to differ on really......having been a falconer for a long time and flown many species no bird of prey could catch a rabbit by running it down.......
And there is no need for the rolling eyes......... |

Your signature "You can't beat nature!"
Sadly the human race is doing a very good job of doing just that. |

You can't beat nature--As you say humanity is trying to apparently
or
You can't beat nature..
as in nothing compares to what nature has to offer!!
The latter is my preferred view!!!

It certainly has adapted pretty well, local rangers and birdwatchers are aware,so I should think if there is a reason to capture it they will have contacts...

| | Re: Harris Hawks Hello
I live in lydiate Liverpool we have a pair of Harris Hawks loose in the area, they have been around for about 2 months. The female the larger of the 2 has taken to swooping down at me from time to time when I am in our field. We also have a problem with rabbits so many of them so plenty of prey. Part of me is happy to see them but on the other hand we have a pair of Kestrals that nest in the garden and there are common Buzzards around too so wouldnt like the thought of them being pushed away or even killed. Also wouldnt like any harm to come to the Hawks.
In this case not sure about nature sorting it out as these birds wouldnt be here if it wasnt for man !!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
