Baby Rat on Route to BIRDFEEDER!!!

I took this picture last May i think it was.

I'm used to the grey bushy tailed variety balancing on the birdies food but this was a first!!!!

Anybody else experienced anything similar??

They do climb then,little gits thats who had my fat balls last year out of my tree then.

the collared doves and wood pigeons had cleared all the leftovers off the lawn (as they do) so this was the only option i spose??

Yes rats are very good climbers and opportunists. Nice photo too.

If there is any type of food left around a rat will find it.. I would suggest most bird feeders that are accessable by rats will be frequented by them, Its just they will move mainly at night so people dont know they are about...

2 days ago I saw the same situation but it was a little wood mouse. I almost got it with my hands

We had a rat, it was chased by the dog and to get back to its run it climbed all the way along the top of the fences and through the trees as not to touch the floor where the dog was..

I caught it in a trap a few weeks ago..We keep setting the rat trap incase there are more and putting chocolate in for bait. The trap goes off the door shuts the chocolate is gone no rat..I think mice are getting into the trap and eating the choc then getting out through the bars..

Some time ago, we had a mouse problem, my Dad used to set the trap baited with oatmeal. The bait used to go, and he had a theory that there 2 types, one blew it off the trap then ran round and ate it, the others hoovered it up.

Please don't criticise me for having snap traps, it was 50 years ago.

The mice ain't the problem its the rats, I don't want..The trap is a humane one, so if the mice do get caught they would be ok...But they can get through the bars...
