| | | Two Firsts.... treated myself to a day at the coast.. went to dungerness rspb and rye harbour.. saw two things i'd never seen before.. a shore lark which has been at the harbour for a while now.. was a nice surprise to see.. very close views with about seven skylarks.. and my first wild seal at the end of the harbour just laying on the sand among a load of gulls.... apperantly its always around there.. was well happy... well worth nearly getting blown away he he ... |

| | | Re: Two Firsts.... Shorelarks are lovely birds + there have been very few around this winter, though I was aware there was a long-stayer in Sussex with Skylarks I usually see a flock when I go to Holkham but not this year! |

| | | Re: Two Firsts.... I often go down Rye harbour, it's lovely down there, especially during the week when there are less people than at weekends, I had no idea there were seals in the area though, will have to keep a closer eye out next time!!! |

| | | Re: Two Firsts.... A good day by the sound of it.
We saw shorelarks at Cley about three weeks ago. We also saw and heard a skylark on Sunday - a beautiful sound and a reminder that Spring will come.
No seals I am afraid although there was one in the River Great Ouse last year.

| | | Re: Two Firsts.... Well done .... it is always a good feeling when you see something for the first time isn't it?
I saw the Shorelark at Rye Harbour on New Years Day .... I didn't realise it was still there.
I was in Norfolk yesterday but didn't have time to go and see the 3 Shorelarks at Cley since a certain little sparrow (the mega rare but well watched White-crowned variety) kept me waiting until 4.45 p.m. to show itself.
