| | | Vandals I seem to get all the bad luck going just lately. I was out enjoying a lovely morning here in Devon. I parked my car by Exeter Canal (at Lyme Kilns if anyone knows it). When I returned all my tyres had been let down and my hub caps thrown into the bushes along the track.
Cant get my tyres to stay up now, probably damaged the valves. So wife, a Neonatal Nurse has had to go to and from her Night Duty by public transport which is not really fair after a 12 hour night shift saving peoples lives!. Hope the sad B............d that did it doesn't ever need her to look after his child!!!!!!! |

| | | Re: Vandals That is really bad news Chas.
I always dread parking up when ever I go wildlife watching and coming back to something like this.

| | | Re: Vandals I once had two of my tyres slashed whilst out walking over a local keepered moor. I had an R.S.P.B sticker in the car window and I'm sure it was either the gamekeeper or one of his troglodytic dimwit cronies (they had a reputation for raptor persecution).

| | | Re: Vandals It gets worse with every generation. In my day we used to chap doors and run away, nowadays they smash windows, mug people, steal cars etc. etc.
There was an article in the paper recently about a father at the end of his tether with local youths who were running riot in his street for weeks. they threatened him and his family with knives and he eventually lost it and ran into one of them in his car. He got a prison sentence while the youths are still creating havoc in the street. Youths nowadays are well aware of the law and know that they will always get off lightly - watch Road Wars on T.V. most of the footage is underage youths stealing cars and creating misery crashing into other cars while the police chase them - the majority are let off with a warning or a driving ban, which is a joke as they don't have license in the first place.
British justice is a joke. |

| | | Re: Vandals They've got to go back to basics with these hooligans, in the sixties our local bobby used to give you a clip round the ear if you misbehaved and if we ran home and told our parents we would most likely get another one not the silly mamby pamby treatment they get today. We respected the police and knew how far to go now they get away with anything and it's a shame when you hear of whole communities being afraid to go out after dark. The yobs know their rights and threaten to sue you even if you look at them in a 'funny way', the law has gone completeley in the wrong direction and seems to favour the culprits rather than the victims who can often end up in far more trouble. |

Today's 'generous' methods just aren't working. On every level young people are currently being let down because they are allowed to get away with murder. Parents, teachers and the justice system are failing a generation of people (and the society in which they dwell) because they do not provide an effective deterrent to wrongdoers.
It's not rocket science for goodness sake. It's all about choice and consequence. If you choose to do wrong, then you must be prepared to face a suitable consequence. Ideally one severe enough so you don't do it again.

| | | Re: Vandals speaking from personal experience, now a days no one can be bothered to chase this sort of thing up. i had an incident last year where a group from the central belt of scotland came to recreation site in glen orchy ,stayed a few nights and left the place looking like a tip. beer bottles , crisp packets and even a couple of tents and sleeping bags ,were left with no sign of them even trying to tidy up. it took me and the other ranger a day and a half to clean the mess. while we were cleaning ,we found a loyalty card with a name on it , and rail tickets from a town into Glasgow, obviously left by them, which we handed to the police, but heard nothing back, so it looks like they got away with it.
