| | | Busy with wildlife casualties Hi All, Just thought i would pop in and tell you what i have been up to lately. As well as H/hogs(120) we have taken in 3 badgers, 1 released, 1 put to sleep and 1 still in, going on ok, hope to release him soon. 3 adult foxes all with very badly infected wounds(poss dog attack at least 1 of them) 4 Roe deer, 1 release,2 PTS, and 1 in still ( going on ok at moment ) 4 Buzzards 1 release, 2 longer term rehab due to remoult feathers, 1 PTS. 3 kestrels all ongoing rehab, as well as 3 jackdaws, 2 partridges(1 red legged, 1 grey ), 2 blackbirds, 1 starling, 4 ferral pigeons, 10 wood pigeons, 7 collared doves, 2 crows as wll as a number of ducks, polish bantam and uncle Tom Cobbly 'n'all!
Oh and forgot to mention overwintering grass snake!
We also had this week a cormorant, sadly with a blown eye( eye full of blood, with no chance of it dispersing) so it was put to sleep. Also an amazing bird with the most fantastic plumage, but alas a fracture on one of the leg joints, a Snipe, so sad,
Now I have ranted enough, I will pop back soon! |

| | | Re: Busy with wildlife casualties Hi Kayleigh,
We do get grey squirrels in, as all wildlife hospitals do, and we have to comply with strict regulations, you are not allowed to release non indigenous wildlife, so we have a licenced contact that deals with squirrels, ie have large enclosures for them to have some quality of life without breaking any regulations. I hope this won't stir up another attack on these very endearing little creatures, and thats all i am saying about them ok |

| | | Re: Busy with wildlife casualties Yes I understand. The reason I asked was, I herd on the news the rspca was called to rescue a grey squirrel that got stuck in a feeder it ate too much and then couldn't get out. The rspca got it free then released it. |

Mystic Meg - It is not the RSPCA that 'preach' ..... they just have to stick to the (stupid) law. |
