| | | Animal, vegetable or mineral? Does anyone have any idea what this is?
It is not a very good photo because a) it is raining and b) it was underneath my car. It is right behind the front wheel, so maybe I drove over it when I came in last night, but somehow, I think it would be more squashed if I did that.
Any suggestions?

My very inexpert guess would be a Myxomycetes of some type - be interesting to know if it's changed shape or moved since you photographed it.
Interesting post - I'll be checking back regularly to see what our more expert members think.

I reckon its the remains of a frog. Looks like the egg mass. |

Maybe you ran over it and the more palatable bits have been scavenged by something like rat, Fox or crow?
Don't feel bad about it

| | | Re: Animal, vegetable or mineral? You guys are good! Mystery solved. When I moved the car, there was a dead frog underneath it about 1 metre away from the stuff in the photo. The frog was relatively intact except for a cut along its side where everything has fallen out. It was not squashed so I would guess that maybe I hit it coming in last night - it was dark and raining The other option is that something attacked it and it crawled under the car for shelter?
I had no time to pick it up and dispose of it before going out today and I have just got back to find it has disappeared. So, I guess something got a free meal.
Thanks for your replies.
