| | | Re: Giant land snail HELP seriously though, they're unstoppable, my friend used to keep them and they used to breed constantly he had to freeze them as he couldn't get rid of them, pretty harsh but most pet shops, etc don't want thousands of little snails |

I Have to say this.....I have read this thread from a new Wabber, a MUM, who often has her small son with her at the computer. Now, these snails are the little lad's pets, and he is very obviously a sympathetic lad, this information gleaned from the mention of quivering lip at suggestion of seperating his pets....I personally think that, knowing these facts, it was very insensitive to make a joke of eating them....In fact I would say that it was disgraceful. I feel very strongly about this, because it will make the lad nervous to part with any of his pets. It is not clever for an adult to make mirth of eating a little lad's pets. You all thought you were VERY FUNNY, didn't you, I wonder how the lad and his Mum felt. That was enough to drive them away from WAB for good.I hope you are all proud of yourselves...Posie.. |

That is horrible!! It is not better to freeze eggs?
Posie I think you are right, it is not funny that some people (suposed to be adults) be so irresponsible to write these things just for having a laugh, thinking there is a child reading the posts .
Anyway nothing can be done; some people just dont have tact and get free in internet, writing things that probably they would say person to person. |

When things happen in reality It's worth sharing, your not having to make things up.
Who knows, this child with the quivering lip may one day become an expert on the subject. |

Exactly. It's a good lesson on how life really is.
We had giant african land snails and they definitely are social animals and don't like being on their own at all. So, if they aren't to be lonely and you don't want to be over run the only practical solution is to dispose of the eggs. |

| | | Re: Giant land snail HELP Funny how topics can move too far
However I profit to say that sometimes I feel a little fed up of this forum. Here in this discussion everybody has been correct, giving their opinion and that is perfect. However I see with despair in other discussions, how people almost insult the ones that like dogs, cats, even religion etc etc because these people disagree with their point of view.
It is suposed this is a forum of discussion about wild things, (plants and animals in general) and different opinions increase the information and quality of a forum. Everybody thinking the same ... bof a little boring, dont you think? |
