RSPCA Enquiries 0300 1234 999

Hello

I am trying to contact the RSPCA through their cruelty line to report an injured bird (Canada Goose). They have listed on their site that the number to dial is 0300 1234 999. However this line is NOT recognized, nor are any of their other numbers. What to do??

Re: The annoying unclarity of the RSPCA

Have you tried 0800 rather than 0300? It might be a typo on their website.

Re: The annoying unclarity of the RSPCA

We are sorry that you have had difficulty in contacting our National Control Centre. The telephone number quoted on our website is correct 0300 1234 999. In the short term, you can contact them on the previous number 0870 5555 999.

0300 is the new telephone range released by Ofcom earlier this year, aimed specifically at charities and non-profit organisations. Calls to 0300 numbers are charged at your providers national rate and are included in any free minutes and deals which you receive from your provider. Because the range is relatively new and the RSPCA is the first major charity to take up numbers in this range, some telecoms providers have not yet provided connectivity. However, the vast majority of UK providers have stated that they are connecting, so in the first instance you should raise this with your telephone company as a fault.

Whilst we appreciate that this has been frustrating for you, the Society has not experienced any significant drop in the volume of calls to our National Call Centre. We are confident that the vast majority of people should be able to call us without a problem.

Re: The annoying unclarity of the RSPCA

hi you are i would think something to do with the rspca,i have many times had trouble contacting the rspca,a few years back i reported a cruelty case but nothing was done,it was my neighboures and their dog,i reported kicking and leaving the dog out all weathers, this made it so unhappy that it never stopped barking and crying, the owners were both out to work till quite late in the eavening, what i dont understand is i never got any feedback also the dog just dissapeared over night.
welcome to the site hope you stay you could help on lots of topics.

Thats a sweeping generalisation and IMO more than a little unfair - especially as one of their staff has taken the time to post to help digifrog with his enquiries.

Also why shouldnt they be interested in donations ? after all they are entirely dependent on them as they recieve no govt funding

btw I have no connection to the rspca but have worked with them a lot both in terms of investigations and animal rescue and have always found their service to be exemplary.

Re: RSPCA Enquiries 0300 1234 999

I have often rung the rspca and they have always been really helpful, I have reported various injured/sick animals birds and have never had a problem.

They are a good organization and I'm glad we have them

Likewise. I think the RSPCA do more than the general public, myself included, think. I've known of a few incidents in the past with animals and the situation has been resolved due to the RSPCA. As Eeyore says, why shouldn't they be glad to have donations? I'd be more than happy to contribute towards them if I had more money (Student you see ). I hope the RSPCA member sticks around. Could have a fantastic input.

Nick

Re: RSPCA Enquiries 0300 1234 999

I can remember contacting the RSPCA many years ago about a neighbour being cruel to his dog..They turned up later that day and after being there a short while removed the dog from the premises...I was well pleased..I visited my local branch two yrs ago and that when I found Jazz my Greyhound..I feel they do a great job..remembering they are not always welcome turning up to a complaint..Hats off to them I say...

Re: RSPCA Enquiries 0300 1234 999

of course to be fair there probably are days when one or another member of the rspca staff makes a mistake or messages get lost, or whatever - but hey they're human (and under resourced). After all which of us can say that our job performance is flawless at all times - I know I cant

What I was saying was that we shouldnt generalise from one poor incident as overall we are better off with them than without them.

Thank you, that number was the one I eventually called. However, when I returned to check if 'Barney' the Canada Goose was still there, he had gone so were unable to help him further. I hope his leg gets better. If I do see him again, I will be in touch.
