this evening i found after heavy rain in a farmyard what i first thought was a glow worm but on close inspection it was a small thin hair like worm glowing quite brightly have never come across this in my lifetime before having looked in several books have not come across anything that even resembles it. It is approximately 20mm long can anybody help me identifiy it.
Some geophilomorph centipedes can emit light and are long and thin. They are sometimes called 'glow-worms' though are unrelated to the more familiar beetle.
I agree. I have only ever seen it once. They were on a country lane. And evey time a car drove passed, they seemed to shine more. They absorbed the cars headlights.
