Kensington gardens and hyde park

Its amazing what you can see in London. Today I went to Camley street nature reserve (next to Kings cross station) and only thhing of note that I saw was a goldfinch, but then its only small and they were cleaning out one of the ponds. But I did remind me of the photos I took a few weeks ago in Kensington gardens and hyde park:


Lots of comorants

And I finally got the shot of one Ive been trying to get since I first got my camera:

I was about only 2ms away!

This male tufted duck was preening nearby


I then wandered to Hyde Park and saw this greylag goose


This nice pair of courting coots


This nice Great Crested Grebe was posing nicely


Then Great Crested Grebe let out a call and I got my fav shot of the day

Nice photos I love the duck on its back ,not seen one do that before
and the Cormarant from two mtrs. away looks almost carved! may I use it as a desktop?

by all means lol. As you can imagine a few shots of it lol

Unfortunately it was getting on a bit in the day and overcast at the point of taking photos of the comorant and tufted duck so there not as sharp as they would have been. Thankfully the sun came out for the grebe and its crest

As densely populated and dirty London can be, it is a haven for wildlife due to all the parks and an abundance of trees and shrubbery, there are some brilliant sightings to be had.
My son lives in Islington, near Kings Cross, he previously lived in Highgate and the amount of butterflies and varieties of birds I saw was far superior to what I see in my North West London garden.
High up in his flat in Highgate he had regular visits from a wide variety of birds including a Woodpecker feeding at the peanuts he put out for them, I should be so lucky I get such a visit!
I am looking forward to visiting Camley Street nature reserve on my next visit, I saw it featured on Nature of Britain and hadn’t heard of it before but my son does keep telling me all about the fantastic wildlife there is to see where he lives.
