| | | British Autumn We've just returned from a holiday in Majorca, which in itself was lovely with slightly warmer weather than UK. However, I couldn't help making the comparison between our Autumn and theirs.
Pine are the most abundantly visible trees there, together with palm and olive, but there is none of the wonderful changes in colour we experience here in the UK with the huge variety of trees we have, as they lose their summer apparel. Then there's the conkers which fall and finding these beautiful, dark brown, smooth and round objects amongst the fallen leaves is another pleasure - particularly for young children - together with the brown, orange and yellow leaves themselves to kick up into the air. The berries and fungus which adorn bushes and logs are yet another area of interest to be explored and can turn a walk on a cooler British autumnal day into an enjoyable excursion.
So, although it was nice to be in the Balearics for a couple of weeks - there's no place like home!

Tinkerbell | I know what you mean. I returned from Canada in May after 1 year of being out there and the first thing that struck me was how green it is here, i couldnt stop looking at the grass and trees and rolling hillsides.
I was definatly in the mind set of there is no place like home.
Autumn in Alberta whizzed by, going from hot sun to snow in a matter of a week or 2! First snow was september.
It is so nice to be home and experience Autumn here with its vivid colours, misty morning sunrises and diversity of wildlife. |

Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons but to some people it's just a time to complain about the cold. There is a berry tree in the middle of our street and hundreds of starlings attack it throughout October and I have actually seen people walking past and not even giving it a second look and starlings arn't renound for being quiet. Any hoo if I could just say thank goodness for the majority and never mind the minority cruel but it's their loss and it's free, you'd think that would motivate people to take notice if nothing else.
