| | | British Wildlife Magazine? See here:- www.britishwildlife.com
...... does anyone have a subscription? If so what’s it like? Any good? Mini review if possible
I already have a subscription to BBC Wildlife but was looking to get something a little more focused on the UK. |

Its been running since 1989 I believe. Im a big fan of it and I dont think I could get through my degree without it!! You can only purchase it direct from the publisher Paul for a subscription fee of about £20 and you receive 6 issues a year.
It features all the latest conservation and habitat management news in the UK, in a well written easy-to-follow format and also is printed in colour throughout. One of the interesting features of the journal is the recent update sightings pages of which it includes; mammals, cetaceans, birds, reptiles and amphibians, dragonflies, butterflies, moths, bees, wasps and ants, molluscs, plants, and bryophytes. Another interesting feature is the reserve focus section which is included frequently, in which a particular nature reserve is the UK is focussed on in great detail (great for giving you ideas for places to visit!). It also occasionally features a identification section which helps you to key out and identify species based on their key features.
I cannot recommend it to you enough BM, it keeps you updated with all the latest going-ons in British nature conservation

| | | Re: British Wildlife Magazine? Just received my first copy. I thoroughly recommend it. It is aimed more at the serious wildlife enthusiast, and will be of particular use if you are studying wildlife related topics, with many reports backed up with useful data.
Plenty of info on subjects such as wildlife management, conservation and ecology.
This particular copy (april 2006, special 100th edition) has an interesting article on 'phenology', and another entitled 'hedgerows and the historic landscape'.
By the way, if you don't know what phenology is, look here: http://www.phenology.org.uk/
Magazine size: 25cm high by 17cm wide. 304 pages.
A very good read |

Couldn't have put it better myself!!!
Only I miss Chris Meads input
Still a great magazine. I'd give up my RSPB subscription before I gave that magazine up!! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
